Snapdeal is partnering with Reliance Jio to deliver sim cards to your home. This is different from home delivery of sim cards by Reliance itself.
The sim cards will now be delivered by Snapdeal as well, that would include the Happy New Year offer. Snapdeal has started sending emails to its customers stating that the home delivery of SIM cards is a ‘token of gratitude’ for them and their support.
As for the sim cards, you would require an Aadhaar card, but there is no extra or hidden cost for delivery of these sim cards. Not everyone will be able to get the sim card right now since the offer is limited to specific locations.
For those who have received the email from Snapdeal, follow the link to fill in contact and delivery details. You can also request Snapdeal to deliver the sim card at specific times and confirm that you have a valid Aadhaar card. You will get an SMS detailing your choice of time and a Reliance Jio executive will visit your home around your appointment time to give you the card and activate it.
This distribution adds to the existing service by Reliance itself. Jio hasn’t been able to acquire as many customers as the company had wished to, making it look for alternative ways to engage customers and get more on its network.
Reliance Jio had till now been selling its products either online on Flipkart and Snapdeal, or offline at either Reliance Digital or Digital Express stores. Now the company has ventured into e-commerce through its own website and the online store is now located https://www.jio.com/shop.
This website currently shows only JioFi Device, but will soon list LYF range of smartphones as well. The online store also provides the pricing details of Jio network post the Happy New Year offer.
The online store doesn’t offer any discounts, and the products have been priced exactly same as that of the offline stores, which makes us wonder how Jio will attract customers online. The company hasn’t also listed all its phones, so this could be a work in progress website for it.
Unfortunately, the company is not selling its sim cards online through this portal. So the offline stores have equal importance even now, and the company is probably planning to add an additional channel to acquire more customers.
